What Is a Gate Controller and What Does It Do?
A gate controller — the control board — is the brain of any automatic door system. It picks up the wireless signal from your remote (or a command from the key switch) and converts it into electrical commands that drive the motor: open, close, stop, and slow down.
Every board has three core parts: the receiver module that captures the remote signal on 433.92 MHz, the control circuit that manages motor direction and timing, and the relay outputs that deliver power to the motor. Advanced European boards add features such as programming screens, position encoders, and amperometric anti-crushing detection. If you already know your motor brand, tell us on WhatsApp 01098470908 and we will tell you which board matches it.
Control Board Types by Motor Application
Every motor type — from electric gates and motorized gate systems to roller shutters — needs a board built for its voltage, relay capacity, and safety inputs. Five categories cover the Egyptian market — and if none of them looks like yours, describe your door on 01098470908:
Centre Motor Board
For steel and aluminium roller shutters. Motor sits inside the shaft. 220V AC. Fits shops, warehouses, and garages. ACM and Chinese available.
Side Motor Board
For heavy-duty roller shutters. Chain-driven side motor. 220V or 380V (3-phase). Handles industrial doors and large garages. ACM and Chinese available.
Roller Blind Board
For tubular motors inside the blind shaft. 220V AC. Compact size fits inside the blind box. Controls one or multiple motors. Italian and Chinese available.
Sliding Gate Controller
For iron sliding gates on a rack. 24V DC or 220V AC. Supports photocell, safety edge, and limit switch inputs. For villas, compounds, and factories. Norton, Pujol and Chinese available.
Swing Gate Controller
For double-leaf iron gates. 24V DC or 220V AC. Drives two motors and staggers the leaf order. For villas and residential buildings. Send a photo to confirm the match.

Swing Gate Controller and Sliding Gate Controller — What Is Different
Both are iron gate boards and both accept the same family of safety inputs, but they do not do the same job. The difference comes from the gate, not the brand — so the first thing to settle is which gate you have, and a photo on 01098470908 settles it in a minute.
| Point | Swing Gate Controller | Sliding Gate Controller |
|---|---|---|
| Motors driven | Two — one per leaf | One, on the rack |
| Leaf sequencing | Staggers the two leaves so the overlapping leaf closes last | Not applicable — single travel path |
| End positions | Limit switches or travel timing per leaf | Limit switches or an encoder on the motor |
| Typical voltage | 24V DC or 220V AC | 24V DC or 220V AC |
| Safety inputs | Photocell, safety edge, stop — count varies by board | Photocell, safety edge, stop — count varies by board |
| Pedestrian opening | Opens one leaf only, where the board supports it | Partial travel, where the board supports it |
This is why a swing gate controller cannot simply be swapped onto a sliding gate: a single-motor board has no second motor output and no leaf-delay logic. If you are replacing a board on an iron gate, the fastest route is to send a photo of the gate and the motor to 01098470908.
Control Boards by Brand — ACM, Norton and Pujol
These are the European boards we stock most often in Egypt. Brand on its own does not decide compatibility — the motor voltage, the terminal layout and the limit-switch type do — but starting from the brand of your existing board narrows the search fast.
ACM Control Board (Italy)
ACM is an Italian automation manufacturer, and its boards pair directly with ACM motors. If you searched for ACM control or ACM control board, this is the card you are looking at. It carries the remote or receiver input, the key switch input, and the photocell and limit switch inputs.

Norton Control Board (Italy)
Norton boards are used on iron gate automation, including sliding gate motors. The card below is the Norton sliding gate controller we carry.

What the Inputs on a Control Board Are For
The control board is the point where the safety devices of the installation terminate. The photocell pair, the safety edge, the limit switches and the emergency stop all land on its input block, which means the set of inputs a board provides sets the limit on which safety functions that installation can have at all. A board with a single photocell input cannot support a second beam; a board with no safety-edge input cannot read one.

Encoding Types — Why Security Matters
Encoding determines how your remote communicates with the board. It directly affects security: how hard is it for someone to copy the signal and open your door? Three encoding types are common in Egypt, and our team on 01098470908 can tell you which one your board uses:
| Encoding Type | How It Works | Security Level | Common Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed Code | Remote sends the same code every time (PT2262 chip) | ⭐ Low — can be cloned | Simple shops, basic applications |
| Learning Code | Board learns the remote signal (EV1527 chip) | ⭐⭐ Medium | Residential garages, storage doors |
| Rolling Code | Code changes with every press (HCS301 / KeeLoq) | ⭐⭐⭐ High — far harder to clone | Villa gates, compounds, high-security |
European boards from Beninca use ARC (Advanced Rolling Code), with optional KNX and MQTT support for smart home integration. Encoding is a property of the board and the remote together — a rolling code remote will not work on a fixed code board. Send a photo on 01098470908 and we will tell you which type you have.
Signs the Control Board Is the Part That Failed
These are the patterns customers describe most often when the board turns out to be the faulty part. They are observations, not a diagnosis:
- The remote LED lights normally, but the gate does not move at all — and a second, known-good remote behaves the same way.
- The gate opens but will not close, or closes but will not open, with the mechanism free.
- The motor hums or clicks without turning.
- The board no longer accepts new remotes into memory.
- The gate starts moving and stops part-way, repeatedly, on a gate that is not obstructed.
A symptom on its own does not identify the faulty part. The motor, the capacitor, the limit switch, the photocell and the board itself produce overlapping symptoms, and telling them apart means testing the installation — which is a qualified technician’s work, not something to do from a web page. If a technician has already told you the board is the fault, send a photo of the board and the motor to 01098470908 and we will match the replacement.
How to Choose the Right Control Board
Four steps will get you to the right board:
- Identify your door and motor type: Is it a roller shutter (centre or side motor), roller blind, sliding gate, or swing gate? This determines the board category.
- Check your motor voltage: Read the name plate or label on the motor — 220V AC (standard residential), 24V DC (modern gate motors), or 380V (industrial 3-phase). The board must match.
- Note the remote capacity and safety features you need: How many remotes? Do you need photocell and safety edge inputs? Capacity and input count vary by model.
- Send a photo on WhatsApp: Photograph your motor and existing board (if any) and send to 01098470908. Our team confirms compatibility before any purchase commitment.
European and Chinese Control Boards — the Technical Difference
| Specification | European | Chinese |
|---|---|---|
| Encoding | Rolling Code / ARC | Fixed Code / Learning Code |
| Remote capacity | Generally higher — exact figure varies by model | Generally lower — exact figure varies by model |
| Programming interface | Display screen on some models | Buttons and LEDs |
| Anti-crushing | Amperometric detection on many models | Basic or none |
| Safety inputs | Photocell + safety edge + limit switch + stop | Photocell + limit switch |
| Smart home | KNX / MQTT / mobile app | WiFi / Tuya on some models |
| Long-term stability | Higher | Lower on continuous duty |
The right choice depends on the application and how heavily the door is used, not on a ranking. Whether you need an ACM control board for a shop shutter or a Norton gate controller for a villa gate, ask the sales team on 01098470908 and they will tell you what fits your case.

Is a gate controller the same thing as a control board?
Yes. Gate controller, control board, control panel, gate control box, kontrol board and receiver unit all name the same electronic card that receives the remote signal and drives the motor. Swing gate controller, sliding gate controller and roller shutter control board describe the same part built for a different gate type. If you are unsure which one your motor uses, send a photo to 01098470908.
Can I replace the control board without changing the motor?
In most cases, yes. The control board can be replaced independently as long as the new one matches your motor’s voltage and type. Send a photo of your motor and existing board on WhatsApp and we will confirm compatibility before any commitment.
What is different about a swing gate controller?
A swing gate has two leaves, so its controller drives two motors and staggers the order in which the leaves move, so the overlapping leaf closes last. A sliding gate controller drives one motor on a rack and has no leaf-delay logic, which is why the two are not interchangeable. Both accept photocell, safety edge and stop inputs, and both exist in 24V DC and 220V AC versions. Send a photo of the gate on WhatsApp 01098470908 and we will tell you which one you need.
What is the difference between Fixed Code and Rolling Code?
Fixed Code transmits the same signal every time — simpler, but it can be cloned. Rolling Code generates a new encrypted signal with every press, which makes it far harder to clone. European boards such as Beninca use Advanced Rolling Code (ARC). The remote and the board have to use the same encoding type.
How many remotes can be stored on one board?
Remote memory capacity differs from model to model, including within the same brand, so there is no single figure that applies to all boards. European boards generally store more than basic Chinese boards. Ask our team on 01098470908 for the capacity of the specific board you are looking at.
Do you supply ACM control boards in Egypt?
Yes. ACM is one of the Italian brands we stock, alongside Norton, Beninca and Pujol, plus Chinese options. ACM boards pair directly with ACM motors, and may fit other motors depending on voltage, terminal layout and limit switch type. Send a photo of your motor and we will confirm before you order.
Do you ship control boards outside Cairo?
Yes. Cairo and Giza orders are delivered within hours. All other Egyptian governorates receive delivery within 3–5 business days. Cash on delivery, bank transfer, and InstaPay are all accepted.
Is there a WiFi-enabled control board for automatic doors?
Yes. Some modern boards support WiFi and connect to mobile apps such as Tuya or Smart Life. European boards also support KNX and MQTT for smart home integration. Contact us to check current availability.
Which control board fits a villa sliding gate?
Sliding gates need a board with photocell, safety edge and limit switch inputs, matched to the motor voltage. We carry 24V DC and 220V AC options. Send a photo of your motor to 01098470908 and our team will match the right board.
Are Chinese control boards reliable?
Chinese boards work for simple applications such as shop shutters. For iron gates or high-security locations, European boards offer Rolling Code encryption and amperometric anti-crushing detection, and are more stable on continuous duty. Our sales team can help you choose based on how the door is used.
What safety inputs should a control board have?
The usual minimum is a motor output plus a limit switch input. For gates: a photocell input, a safety edge (sensitive edge) input, and an emergency stop. The set of inputs the board provides sets the limit on which safety functions the installation can have. The electrical work and the testing of the installation are a qualified technician’s job.
I cannot find my board on the website — what do I do?
Every control board has the remote that belongs with it, and what is listed on the site is not everything we hold. Send a photo of the old board, or of the motor label, on WhatsApp 01098470908 and we will identify the matching board for your motor.
