First question: strap or crank?
The right part depends on how your shutter opens, so start here. Look at the window from inside the room. If a strap comes down from the shutter box into a small box on the wall, you have a strap shutter. If there is a small metal eye under the shutter box for a crank handle, you have a crank shutter. Strap shutter problems and the fix
On a strap shutter, the box on the wall has four parts: a box, a reel, a spring and the strap. All four are sold together as one unit. This is why most strap problems have the same fix:
- The strap is broken or worn at the edge → a complete strap winder. The strap is not sold alone.
- The strap pulls out but does not go back in → a complete strap winder. The spring that pulls it back is inside.
- The winder box is cracked or broken → a complete strap winder. The box, reel, spring and strap are one unit.

Crank shutter problems: crank handle or cardan joint?
A crank shutter has two parts that you can see. The crank handle is the part you hold: a hook, a shaft and a crank arm with a grip. The cardan joint stays under the shutter box: a rod, a mounting plate, an X-shaped joint and an eye. Each part is sold on its own:

To find out which of the last two you have, watch the joint while you turn the handle. The joint takes the turning movement into the box. If the joint turns but the shutter does not move, the problem is inside the box. That part is not one of the parts on our website. Power cut, and your electric shutter is closed?
It depends on the motor. A motor with manual override can be opened by hand. Hook the crank handle into the eye of the joint and turn it. If you do not have the crank handle or the joint, order the kit. A motor without manual override cannot be opened by hand, and these parts will not work with it. If you do not know which motor you have, send a photo of the label on the motor.
Problems we have no spare part for
Some shutter problems cannot be fixed with a part that we ship. For manual roller shutters, we supply only strap winders and crank parts. The problems below are in the shutter body. A technician needs to see them on site:
- A broken or bent slat in the curtain.
- A problem in the side guides that the curtain moves in.
- A curtain that has fallen inside the shutter box.

Manual roller shutter questions
Do I need a new shutter if the strap or the crank breaks?
No. The strap is part of the strap winder. The crank handle and the joint are separate parts. You can replace all of them without changing the curtain.
Do you repair roller shutters?
No, we supply spare parts only. If the problem is in the strap or the crank parts, we send the new part, and an aluminium window technician fits it.
I do not know what is broken. What should I do?
Take a photo of the part on the window, or make a short video of the shutter while it moves. Send it on WhatsApp 01098470908. Our sales team will find the part from the photo.
Do you sell slats or side guides?
No. For manual roller shutters we supply strap winders and crank parts: the cardan joint, the crank handle and the kit. Slats and guides are work for a technician.
How do I know the part will fit my shutter?
We match the part from photos. For a strap winder, send the strap width. For crank parts, send a photo of the eye and its height from the floor. Send them before you order.
