Most handsets sold as universal in the Egyptian market transmit on 433.92 MHz with a copyable fixed code. Somfy deliberately runs RTS on 433.42 MHz with its own rolling code, where the transmitted value changes on every press. The frequencies do not meet and the code cannot be cloned.
That is a security feature rather than an inconvenience: nobody duplicates your gate handset at a kiosk. The practical consequence is that when a Somfy remote is lost or broken, the replacement has to be an original RTS handset. If yours is behaving strangely rather than failing outright, start with the diagnosis checklist before buying anything.
Also worth checking: Somfy io is a separate protocol on a different frequency, and an RTS handset cannot operate an io motor. The motor label tells you which one you have — photograph it and send it over rather than guessing.
