How to Program a Somfy Remote in Egypt — Keytis, Telis & RTS Pairing Steps
Programming a Somfy RTS remote takes under two minutes and needs no tools. There are two scenarios: if you still have a working remote, you copy it to the new one by holding the old remote’s PROG button until the motor jogs, then pressing PROG on the new remote. If all remotes are lost, you pair from the motor itself: press its PROG button (or power-cycle per model), wait for the jog, then press PROG on the new remote. The jog — a short up-down movement — is always your confirmation signal.

Scenario 1 — you still have a working remote
This is the easy path, used when adding a spare or replacing a worn remote:
1) On the working remote, press and hold the small PROG button on the back (use a pin) for about 3 seconds — the shutter or gate gives a short jog (brief up-down movement). The motor is now in learning mode.
2) Within two minutes, short-press the PROG button on the new remote once. The motor jogs again — done. The new remote now controls the same motor, and the old one keeps working.
Repeat per channel on multi-channel models like Telis 4: select the channel first, then pair.
You pair directly from the motor. Two common methods depending on the model:
Motor PROG button: tubular RTS motors have a PROG button on the motor head (visible at the shutter box). Hold it until the jog, then short-press PROG on the new remote.
Power-cycle method (double power cut): where the button is unreachable, Somfy’s sequence — power off 2s, on 8s, off 2s, on — puts the motor in open-memory mode; then hold PROG on the new remote until the jog. Timings vary slightly by model, so send us your motor label on WhatsApp and we confirm the exact sequence before you start.
Security note: pairing from the motor requires physical access to its power line — that is by design, so a stranger outside cannot add remotes to your gate.
Deleting a lost remote from memory
If a remote was lost or stolen, do not leave it paired. A long PROG press on the motor (typically ~7 seconds, until a double jog) clears the remote memory entirely — then re-pair only the remotes you hold. For multi-remote households, do this once and re-add the survivors in one session.
Why generic remotes will not pair
Somfy RTS runs on 433.42MHz with Somfy’s own rolling code — universal 433.92MHz copy remotes cannot enter this pairing process at all. Only original or RTS-certified remotes (Keytis, Telis and Situo lines) will complete the jog handshake. Can I pair one Somfy remote to several shutters?Yes — repeat the pairing on each motor. A multi-channel Telis controls each shutter on its own channel plus all together on the group channel.
