You meet the brand in two places: on the motor itself, and on the handset that drives it. Somfy manufactures both, and it runs them on two different radio systems that do not talk to each other. Knowing which one sits on your wall is the whole question, because a handset built for one is inert on the other.

What an RTS handset operates
Any Somfy motor or receiver carrying the RTS mark responds to a Keytis handset: sectional garage door openers, sliding and swing gate operators, and the tubular motors behind roller shutters and awnings. The model names sold in the Egyptian market are set out family by family in the RTS buying guide.
The fastest check is the label on the motor head or inside the shutter box. Carrying the RTS mark means an original handset works with it directly. Not carrying it means the handset is the wrong part — photograph the motor or its control board, send it over, and we identify what belongs to it.

Searches for a Somfy motor, a Somfy gate motor or a Somfy shutter motor usually start from equipment that is already installed. Somfy builds a separate motor family for each opening, and the RTS mark is what decides whether an original Keytis handset drives it. The families below are the ones met in the Egyptian market.

Receivers, control units and controllers
The handset does not talk to the motor directly. It talks to an RTS receiver — a Somfy control unit either built into the motor head or supplied as a separate box wired to it. The words controller, control panel and control unit all describe that receiving side, and it is the side that fixes the radio system: a receiver on RTS at 433.42 MHz accepts an RTS handset and nothing else. Abu Seif Steel supplies the handset. Somfy motors, receivers and control units are outside what we carry, so when the receiver itself is the failed part the replacement comes from a Somfy channel, not from us.
Why non-original remotes do not work with Somfy
This is the most common reason a replacement handset fails on arrival. Somfy RTS uses 433.42 MHz with rolling code, where the transmitted code changes on every press. Handsets sold as universal or as copies almost always run on 433.92 MHz with a fixed code. Different frequency, different security model — a Somfy receiver does not recognise them, and no setup changes that.
Somfy io is a separate matter again: it is a newer two-way protocol on a different frequency, and an RTS handset cannot operate an io motor. Check the label on your motor before ordering, or send us a photo and we read it for you.
The Keytis 2 NS RTS — the model we hold
Two independent channels, which in practice means one handset in your pocket driving two separate things — a gate at the entrance and a roller shutter at the house, or a garage door and a second gate — provided both run on Somfy RTS. Each channel is assigned to its own motor and the two stay independent.
Adding a handset does not disturb the ones already paired. Households with more than one driver commonly keep several running on the same motor, and on commercial shutters a spare handset saves the morning when a cell finally goes.
