What a Somfy RTS remote actually controls
RTS is Somfy’s one-way radio system, and any motor or receiver carrying the RTS mark responds to an RTS handset. In the Egyptian market that covers four families of equipment:

Two channels, two separate points
The Keytis 2 NS RTS carries two independent channels. In practice that means one handset in your pocket operating two different things — a gate at the entrance and a roller shutter at the house, or a garage door and a second gate — as long as both run on Somfy RTS. Each channel is assigned to its own motor, and they stay independent of each other.
Adding a handset does not disturb the ones already in use. Households with more than one driver commonly run several handsets on the same motor.
Why non-original remotes do not work with Somfy
This is the most common reason a replacement handset fails on arrival. Somfy RTS uses 433.42 MHz with rolling code, where the transmitted code changes on every press. Handsets sold as universal or as copies almost always run on 433.92 MHz with a fixed code. Different frequency, different security model — a Somfy receiver does not recognise them, and no setup changes that.
Somfy io is a separate matter again: it is a newer two-way protocol on a different frequency, and an RTS handset cannot operate an io motor. Check the label on your motor before ordering, or send us a photo and we read it for you.

Looking after the handset
- Keep it dry. Rated IP40, so it is built for a pocket or a drawer, not for rain or a wet dashboard.
- Avoid hard knocks. The case protects a small board and a coin cell; a heavy drop can unseat the battery contact.
