Start with the motor, not the handset
The single most common ordering mistake is choosing a remote that looks like the old one. Appearance tells you nothing about whether it will pair. What matters is the receiver inside your motor: its frequency and the code system it expects. Two handsets that look identical can be electronically incompatible, and two that look nothing alike can work equally well on the same gate.

Which situation are you in?
Remote purchases in Egypt usually fall into one of four situations, and each one changes what information we need from you.
Replacement remote
A like-for-like unit for a motor already installed. Identification comes from the motor or the old remote, not from appearance.
Additional remote
A second or third handset added to the same motor for other family members or drivers.
Multi-channel remote
One handset operating two to four separate points, such as an outer gate plus a garage door.
Rolling code remote
The code changes on every press, making it far harder to copy. Common on main entrance gates.
Replacing a lost or broken remote
This is the most frequent request we handle. If you still have a working original handset, keep it: many rolling code systems programme new units from an existing master rather than from scratch. If nothing remains, identification falls back entirely to the motor and control board labels.
Adding a second handset
Adding a handset is generally straightforward, but receivers have a memory limit on how many remotes they store. On an older system that has accumulated units over the years, that memory can already be full, which is a common reason a perfectly compatible new remote appears to fail.
Fixed code and rolling code, briefly
A fixed code handset transmits the same signal on every press. It is simple to programme and simple to duplicate, which is why it is more often found on internal or lower-risk points. A rolling code handset generates a new code each time, so intercepting one press does not give away future ones. Main entrance gates in compounds typically use rolling code systems.
Neither type is universally correct. The system already installed on your gate determines what you can use, and mixing types is not possible without changing the receiver.

Why a new remote sometimes refuses to pair
Pairing failures are rarely caused by a faulty handset. In practice the cause is almost always one of the following:
- Frequency mismatch between the handset and the receiver — the most common cause by a wide margin.
- A weak battery during programming, which produces a signal too faint to register.
- A full receiver memory, where older handsets have to be cleared before a new one is accepted.
- Wrong procedure for a rolling code unit, which often needs an existing master handset rather than direct programming.
- Standing too far from the control board while attempting the pairing sequence.
